For those who over-enjoy the gastronomy of Lyon, Morning runs will be organized by and with members of the organizing committee to help you run it off, Tuesday 19July and Thursday 21 July 7:00 am within the beautiful Parc de la Tête d’Or

STATPHYS WorldCup: Wednesday 20 July, 14:00-19:00, 7 persons per Team, on an outdoor synthetic football (soccer) field. Completing the short registration form will help us in building one or more teams from each continent that are well-balanced with respect to the age and sex of the players.

Several laboratories of the University of Lyon open their doors to small groups for an inside view of the physics explored in the neighborhood: discover the control room of the CMS detector of the CERN LHC accelerator in the IPNL, the experimental facilities of the Liquids and Interfaces team of the ILM, or the statistical physics related experiments in the ENS de Lyon, and more! This Renaissance district, listed by Unesco, is the largest area of this kind in France... This unique area of Gothic and Renaissance architecture was chosen by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. It covers 24 hectares along the banks of the Saone river. Old Lyon's urban development took place principally in the 15th and 16th centuries. After visiting the Gothic cathedral, wander through the narrow cobbled streets and passageways called Traboules. These famous covered passageways which lead from one street to the next via corridors through residences, superbly hide renovated architectural treasures: inner courtyards, covered Italian archways”, spiral staircases, etc.

Enter the world of Silk through the Traboules passageways... Lyon is the capital of silk weaving in France. You will discover the ”Traboules” (passageways) winding down the hill of the Croix-Rousse where 30,000 silk weavers lived in the 19th century. Down the slopes of the Croix-Rousse hill, cross the Place des Terreaux, with the City Hall, the Fine Arts Museum and Bartholdi's fountain to get to the "Famous people of Lyon mural", where you can see, side by-side, portraits of the great men who have made the name of Lyon.

Departure to Tournus, Walk in the medieval town centre to visit the St Philibert Abbey. The 11th C collegiate church is considered a landmark of Romanesque architecture, overlooking the river. Continuation to Cluny, stop at Solutré's Rock. Lunchtime stop in a typical restaurant. Afternoon dedicated to discovering Cluny and the Abbey which radiated and extended its influence across the whole of Europe throughout the Middle Ages. The Abbey church was the largest in western Christendom, prior to the construction of St Peter's Basilica in Rome. Cluny Abbey was largely destroyed during the French revolution but the remaining vestiges give an ample impression of its scope and influence.

The Fine Arts Museum
Located in the middle of the historic city centre in the building of a former Royal Abbey dating from the 17th century, the Lyon’s Fine Arts Museum has one of the largest art collections in Europe.

The Gadagne Museum

The Hôtel de Gadagne, a superbly renovated Renaissance building, houses two museums, the Lyon Historical Museum and the International Puppet Museum.

Gallo-Roman Museum of Lyon, Fourvière
The Gallo-Roman Museum of Lyon- Fourvière and the archaeological site are situated on the slopes of the Fourvière hill. A superb collection of mosaics, sarcophagi, statues and artefacts, are preserved in this museum. 

Tissue museum and decorative arts, silk museum
The diversity and wealth of the Musée des Tissus collections is such that exhibitions can touch upon many different subjects and appeal to an ever more varied public.

The Museum of Cinema, Lumière brothers

In 1895, the City of Lyon became the birthplace of the 7th art, when Auguste and Louis Lumière invented the "Cinématographe".
